The Cosmic Crisp® apple is the remarkably delicious result of 20 years of study and research by Washington State University’s world-class tree fruit breeding program. The Cosmic Crisp® brand is synonymous with quality, with only the best WA 38 variety apples sold under this label. Classically bred by Washington State University researchers, WA 38 cv. Cosmic Crisp® brand apples are a cross between the Enterprise and Honeycrisp varieties.
What makes Cosmic Crisp® apples unique?
Cosmic Crisp® apples are prized for their perfectly balanced sweet-tart flavour and versatility, with only the best WA 38 cv. apples sold under the Cosmic Crisp® brand. Generous in size, with a vibrant red colour and crisp white flesh, Cosmic Crisp® apples are amazingly sweet and juicy, and incredibly slow to brown. Unlike other varieties that are better suited to a particular use, Cosmic Crisp® apples are equally delicious when enjoyed whole, sliced, or in cooking and baking.
When will Cosmic Crisp® apples be available in Australian stores?
The first commercial Australian plantings of WA38 cv. apple trees occurred in 2021, with the first Cosmic Crisp® brand apples expected to be released to stores in July 2024.
